Moving to another server

A backup can only be loaded onto the server it was made of - unless its owner allows it with a transfer code. That way nobody can copy a server just by knowing a backup ID.

  1. On the backed-up server, the owner runs /backup transfer id:<backup ID>. The reply shows the code (like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX), valid for 24 hours and one load. A new code replaces the previous one.
  2. On the new server: invite the bot, give it Administrator, and as the owner there run /backup load id:<backup ID>.
  3. Enter the code - then it's a normal load: confirmation, progress, result. The code is used up when the load starts.

Things to know:

  • Loading onto another server always replaces - repairing compares by ID and only works on the same server.
  • The code works as long as the backup exists - also after the bot was kicked from the old server (its backups are kept for 7 days then). The code itself has to be created while the bot is still on the old server.
  • Older backups that were created with their own password (before automatic backups existed) need no code - the load asks for that password instead.
